A discussion on our progress choosing a newer, lighter ultralight backpacking pack for my wife.

Packs seen in the video:
Gregory Deva 70 (my wife’s older, heavier pack)
Osprey Hornet 46 (my current pack)

Ultralight packs that we’ve been looking at the most so far:
Gossamer Gear Gorilla
ULA Ohm 2.0
Gossamer Gear Mariposa

    • Someone beat me to it. I agree with Tyson, the Crown vc 60 is a great pack. I have the mens version (2 lbs. 2 oz. for 60 L). Since I backpack with kids, I wanted a light pack with a lot of capacity. My wife uses the Osprey Exos 48. She uses size small so it is actually 45 L and comes in at 2 lbs. 5 oz. She loves its.

Granite Gear Pack: Note, Whenever you see “KI” that means Women

p.s. The Crown vc comes in red, so you guys can match. Aww how cute. 🙂

    • Thanks, Tyson. I’m on their site checking it out now. A hair over 2 lbs for a 60L pack is pretty awesome. Plus, it looks like their are actually several other voters for the same pack on this thread. Nice 🙂

  2. I third the Granite Gear! VC 60 ki. Hands down the most comfortable straps and hip belt out there. Make sure to try the packs on if possible.

    • Thanks, Paul. Mike picked up the green 58L version recently, and it looks really nice. He’s super excited to get it out on the trail.

  3. I have had used two versions of the gossamer mariposa, 2008 and 2013. Very light and although large for your stated purchase it compresses well with included compression straps. Loved it but upgraded to packs arc zip – it’s fantastic. Any interest in a used mariposa?
