  1. Scott and I are discussing this and have thought of several bad experiences:

Early in the season this year there were 2 instances where I was solo hiking while Scott was at work and the number of blowdowns totally obscured the trail. I foolishly tried to navigate it further, only to find myself pretty lost. Both times it took me a good hour to find my way back and I was certain I was going to be featured on North Woods Law. That was bad.

Scott reminded me that camping above 3200 feet in Maine is much like camping in a wet plastic bag. Everything is wet, soggy, misty, and cold. We spent an evening on the AT, huddled in our sleeping bags trying to stay warm since fires were not allowed. Scott said he probably couldn’t have gotten one started anyway. We were up and on the trail by 6:30am the next morning.

Hyper diaper rash. Enough said about that.

I am sure there is more. We usually review each hike as we head home and evaluate what went well and what didn’t. Tomorrow we head out for 54 miles in 3 1/2 days. I imagine we will have some feedback from that.

    • Ugh, nothing like a soggy night of camping! Glad to hear to made out okay in the end though. Good luck on the upcoming trip. I hope it’s a bit drier for you this time 🙂

  2. Please quit your job and make hiking videos full time. No need to pay for a mortgage if you just live in the woods.

Btw, ever considered doing a hike/videos on the Devil’s Path up in the Catskills?

Keep up the good work, your videos help keep me somewhat sane when not on the trails.
