Planning for a hiking & backpacking trip to the White Mountains National Forest, in New Hampshire.
My plan is to do a 3 day, 2 night Summer loop hike somewhere in the White Mountain National Forest, hiking around 10 – 15 miles per day, depending on trail conditions and possible camping spots.
I’m looking for feedback and ideas if you’ve got ’em!
What size pack should a beginner get for backpacking and hiking? That’s what we’ll be discussing in this video.
Below is a list of the packs seen in the video, but they are really just examples of some of he different categories of backpacking packs and hiking systems. There are lots of great packs out there to fit different uses and body types. It’s all about finding the right system for you.
EMS Longtrail 70 – Men’s Backpack
Osprey Hornet 46 – Unisex Backpack
Gregory Deva – Women’s Backpack
Surplus Alice Pack – Medium
Surplus Load Bearing Vest equipped with butt-pack.
Cowboy action guns! Snippet of a collaboration video with my dad, Whiterook85. Full video w/ reviews & shooting of several cowboy action guns can be seen on his YouTube channel here.
Full credit to Whiterook85 for direction, editing, and production. The incredible acting? Well, I think we all know who deserves at least half the accolades for that.

Comparing three six guns, or Colt 1873 clones. The Ruger New Vaquero, Beretta Stampede, and the Cimarron Wyatt Earp Frontier Buntline Special are show cased here We started out with a little reenactment of a scene from “For A Few Dollars More” just to get in the Western mood, then headed down to the range to shoot these three fine firearms. Sintax77 joined me to do the shooting for this one, since I was on the disabled list with an arm injury. We started out with the Ruger New Vaquero in .38/.357, these aren’t cowboy loads (which are normally less than 1000fps) that he was shooting, but it shows the versatility that the Ruger possesses. Next was the Beretta Stampede in 44wcf or 44-40, it’s a great looking firearm that points well and has a light trigger. Finally the big Cimarron Wyatt Earp Frontier Buntline Special made by Pietta in .45 Long Colt. This is a great reproduction of a working/firing version of a movie prop from Tombstone. The case coloring on the frame is excellent, and it does balance well in the hand for having that long barrel.
One thing about the movie scene, we used camera angles, digital overlays, and even the old fishing line to pull off some of the “stunts”. We were completely safe doing this and I can only as that you don’t try it home! If you do have any questions on how I did it I would be glad to answer them.

Camping at Firefly Music Festival 2013 in Dover, Delaware.
This was our second year at Firefly Festival, & our first year staying at the Front Row Camping spots. We decided to spend the extra $25 each for Front Row Camping and ended up with a great tent spot right across from the main entrance. Perfect for mid-day lunch and refreshment breaks.
To respect the copyrights of others, all live performance audio has been over-dubbed with original works by myself, Sintax77.
I also didn’t want to risk bringing in my primary video camera, so all footage inside the festival was captured on my tiny, but trusty little pocket camera, the Flip Mino, so you’re just going to have to deal with the lack of image stabilization. Personally, I like to think it adds a bit of old-school charm.. 😉
Both years so far have been very well run events and we look forward to next year too!
