Utah RV Camping – Bryce Canyon to Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument

Exploring Southern Utah with an RV from Bryce Canyon National Park to Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument for awesome views, Hiking & Boondocking adventures.

We kept our itinerary pretty loose for this trip, but our general plan was to head from Las Vegas, where we rented our motorhome, towards Bryce Canyon and Escalante in Utah.  We ended up having no problem at all finding boondocking (free) options for all but our last day of RV camping.

Filming Date – Fall, Early October 2020

Day 0 (night before video starts)

  • Fly into Las Vegas Airport
  • Pick up the RV rental at the airport Walmart (we used RVshare.com)
  • Head west 2 hours to St George, Utah.
  • Do a quick boondock camp outside of town in the desert.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

  • Head 28 miles down Hole in the Rock Rd to Peek-a-boo Gulch Parking Area
    • This is a washboard dirt and sand road.  Be prepared to drive pretty slow depending on your vehicle type.  In our case, we had a 24 foot Winnebago motorhome, so it took us about an hour and half to carefully make the drive.
  • Hike to Peek-a-boo Slot Canyon and Spooky Slot Canyon
  • Boondock camp along Hole in the Rock Road on BLM land at a random spot we found

Day 4

  • Drive 30 minutes to Calf Creek Campground Recreation Area
  • Hike the Lower Calf Creek Falls Trail
  • Drive 1.5 hours to Bryce Canyon Pines Campground RV Park

Day 5

  • Drive 4 hours back to Las Vegas
  • Stop by Seven Magic Mountains colorful rock art installation thingy
  • Return the RV rental
  • Grab a burger in Vegas and fly back home.
